About us

Our Story

The Pink Ladies of Argyll was born from a simple idea: that no woman should have to face breast cancer alone.

Founded in 2013 by breast cancer survivor Nicky Murphy, the organisation began with a single event called Pink Ladies Day. Nicky recognised that while medical treatment is essential, many women across Argyll were returning home after diagnosis and treatment feeling isolated, particularly in our rural and island communities where support can often be difficult to access.

She wanted to create a special day where women affected by breast cancer could come together, leave their worries behind for a few hours, and enjoy friendship, laughter, support and wellbeing activities in the company of others who truly understood their journey.

What started as a small gathering quickly grew into something much more meaningful.

Over the years, Pink Ladies Day became a cherished annual event, bringing together women from across Argyll and the Isles who were living with, undergoing treatment for, or recovering from breast cancer. Friendships were formed, support networks developed, and a strong community began to emerge.

As the need for year-round support became clear, the Pink Ladies evolved beyond a single event into a dedicated support organisation. In 2024, we proudly became a registered Scottish charity, ensuring we could continue to grow and provide even greater support to women throughout the region.

Who We Are Today

Today, the Pink Ladies of Argyll is a thriving community of women supporting women.

We provide emotional, practical and social support to anyone affected by breast cancer. Our members understand first-hand the impact breast cancer can have, creating a safe and welcoming environment where experiences can be shared openly and without judgement.

We host support groups, coffee mornings, wellbeing activities and social events across Argyll, helping women build friendships, regain confidence and access the support they need close to home.

Breast Cancer Awareness sessions

Pink Ladies of Argyll trustees are trained by Breast Cancer Now’ to deliver engaging breast cancer awareness sessions, helping women recognise the importance of early detection, breast awareness and screening. If your organisation, workplace or community group has a predominantly female audience, we’d be delighted to visit and deliver an informative, supportive and accessible awareness session. Please get in touch via the ‘get in touch page.

Our Mission

Our mission is simple:

To ensure that every woman affected by breast cancer in Argyll feels supported, connected and empowered throughout their journey.

We believe that support extends far beyond medical treatment. Through friendship, shared experiences and practical assistance, we aim to improve wellbeing, reduce isolation and help women live life to the fullest after a breast cancer diagnosis.

Our Vision

We envision a future where every woman in Argyll affected by breast cancer has access to a strong network of support, regardless of where she lives.

We continue to develop new services, workshops, wellbeing programmes and community initiatives that help women not only cope with breast cancer but thrive beyond it.

What Matters Most

At the heart of everything we do is a simple belief:

Nobody should face breast cancer alone.

Whether someone has been newly diagnosed, is currently undergoing treatment, is living with secondary breast cancer, or has been cancer-free for many years, they will always find understanding, friendship and support within the Pink Ladies family.

Together, we share experiences, celebrate milestones, support one another through challenges, and remind each other that there is life, hope and strength beyond breast cancer.

Together, we are stronger. Together, we are Pink Ladies.
